UPDATED DECEMBER 7, 2018
- I was here not so long ago: May 2015.
- Number of days: one and two nights.
- My rating is 3/5.
The fourth largest city in Germany after Berlin, Munich and Hamburg. Is the most touristic one in western Germany, promoted in recent years by the proliferation of low-cost flights to Cologne and its northern neighbor Dusseldorf. Moreover, its location makes it a common destination on trips to The Netherlands and Belgium. Its cathedral is the most visited monument in Germany and the undisputed icon of the city and architect of its tourist development. The image of the bridge in the foreground and the cathedral in the background is known throughout the world, but apart from a pleasant river walk and a small, flirtatious and full of all kinds of restaurants historic center, the same thing happens to many other German destinations: although interesting, it does not take more than a day to see the best, unless we intend to go to several museums. Personally I recommend the visit even for those who have seen excellent Gothic cathedrals, such as St Vitus in Prague or Burgos and León in Spain, but I do not think about repeating.
