YORON-TO BEACHES

ESPAÑOL

Yoron-to is a small island that has nothing of interest, apart from its beaches. On a small island, the beaches will not be very large, but it is very likely that you have never been on such idyllic beaches with so few people around. All are fine white sand that looks like flour, the water is so clear that it shows a bright blue color, incredibly beautiful, and are surrounded by vegetation. Snorkeling is not extraordinary, but there are decent areas of coral and fish that can be accessed from the shore. Between some beaches and others there are several cemeteries near the sea. They are described in the sense of the needles of the clock, beginning from Chabana.

UDONOS BEACH (ウドノスビーチ)

In my opinion the least recommended, because is very close to the main town, and therefore more crowded, with chalets and nearby hotels.

SHOHEI o SHINAHA KAIGAN (品覇海岸)

Continuation of Udonos in northeast direction, one of the largest and most beautiful beaches.

MERABI BEACH (メーラビビーチ)

Final end north of Shohei.

TERASAKI KAIGAN (寺崎海岸)

To the north, already on the east coast, is a small beach formed, like shohei, by sand and some areas of volcanic rock, flat but with a very rough surface.

KURO HANA KAIGAN (黒花海岸)

Its name means “beach of the black flowers”. Immediately south of Terasaki.

KAIDA KAIGAN (皆田海岸)

To the southeast of Kuro Hana, this beach is beautiful. It has a volcanic islet a few meters from the shore and is surrounded by the greener vegetation.

To the east, the largest beach on the island. There are no patches of volcanic rock in it.

It is one of the most beautiful beaches you will see in your life, thanks to being the starting point to the main attraction of Yoron, the Yurigahama (百合 ヶ 浜), a very fine sandbank about 500 meters away from the coast. The water is the most spectacular light blue color I have ever seen. It is accessed by boat glass- floor, to observe the seabed; it costs 2000 ¥ and I remember that it leaves 3 times a day, depending the schedule (you can get it at the tourist information center in Chabana or at any accommodation) on the tides, since it disappears at high tide. The round trip and the time spent in Yurigahama combined take about an hour, which is very short, so those good swimmers should try to go on their own.

MAEHAMA KAIGAN (前浜海岸)

To the south, similar to Terasaki Kaigan, although I personally prefer those from the northeast of the island. It is close to several resorts.

HAKIBINA KAIGAN (ハキビナ海岸)

In the southwest area of Yoron, near Chabana. It stands out for three large rocks joined by a rope. The coast between Maehama and Hakibina is peculiar for the flat rocks submerged to little depth, that confer a very singular aspect to it.
