LETNA GARDENS

Metrónomo de los jardines de LetnaNorth of Josefov, across the river, there is a large park located in the Letna hill. In good weather it can be a very nice place to relax or from where contemplate the city, but without it it can be unpleasant and somewhat seedy. KARLOVY VARY

The perfect day trip from Prague is this small city where in addition to the architecture of its beautiful buildings, the star is the thermal water that flows every few meters. Founded by Charles IV in 1350 for the alleged healing qualities of the thermal waters, since then it hasn’t stop receiving visitors wishing to drink it or bathe. Unfortunately, there is not a single free hot spring for bathing any more, all have been incorporated into spas (although there is a pool for non-guests at the Hotel Thermal open in summer), but you can drink different types of waters that flow freely from fountains located on colonnades around the city. This small center Europe country has an essential destination, but the rest seems to me somehow dispensable.

Nature does exist, but is not very spectacular; there are mountains and forests, but they do not add much about the rest of Europe.

On the other hand, cities have an extraordinarily beautiful architecture, although, as in neighboring Poland, all are more or less alike. I have been there twice, most of my time has been spent on the essential Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and perhaps in the world.  Continue reading “Czech Republic”
