CORON

ESPAÑOL

  • We were here: February 2016.
  • Number of days: 6.
  • My score: 5/5, that’s a paradise…

Incomprehensible is that this ex-tra-or-di-na-ry set of islands has gone unnoticed by the tourist radar until just 5 years ago.

Inexplicable is that its neighbor El Nido, of similar beauty (although personally I prefer Coron) is increasing its fame to levels that reach those of Koh Phi Phi or Railey in Thailand and Coron no one knows of its existence till the day you start planning your trip to the Philippines because all the amazing photos you have seen on the internet you thought they were from El Nido.

And unforgivable is that both of them are not in the top ten of any traveler in the category of the most beautiful, grand and spectacular islands of this planet, because these islands deserve that place, considering the ones I have seen, although of course, I still have many islands to visit.

Within the lamentable tourist infrastructure of the Philippines in general, Coron in particular, because it is beginning to explode, is even worse, but this should not discourage anyone, has a remedy: try to spend the maximum time possible; it is inevitable that you will lose days, either because of the bad weather or the informality and disorganization of the tour operators, but if you leave without seeing half of what is here, you will regret for life.
