One of the emerging areas in recent years. Although their best known attraction is the relatively new High Line, there are many other points of interest that make them worthwhile to spend half a day. Like its northern neighbor (Hell’s Kitchen), Chelsea and the Meatpacking District are into all kind of improvements to expand the range of leisure and restoration of Manhattan through an ambitious redevelopment project around the west side of the city.

SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS

There are tons of shops, from small ones to very exclusive boutiques not suitable for most pockets. The Chelsea Market is the best known. The old market has become an office area on the upper floors, but keeps stores of all kinds in the low, most of them related to food. The mixture is very interesting from an aesthetical point of view.
Our favorite restaurant is Artichoke Pizza, on the corner of 10th Ave and 17th St. As its name suggests, the specialty is artichoke pizza, very different from others that we have tried and in our opinion the best one. Slices are huge.
This park covers the entire west side of Tribeca and Chelsea. The views of the Hudson, New Jersey and Downtown make this, in our opinion, the best area for a stroll, not the busy High Line.

This high 2.3 km long walking path is set over what it used to be the railway of the West Side Line, abandoned in 1960.

It attracts 5 million visitors per year and is one of the emerging attractions of Manhattan, so we have a post about it.

The other attraction of the Meatpacking District is one of the rooftop terraces with the best view of the city. It is part of the nightclub Le Bain, on the top floor. The terrace is closed if bad weather. Admission is free although the hotel reserves the right to refuse admission. Cocktails are regrettable and expensive (around $15) but no doubt it’s worthy going, is the view what you are paying.

MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
The mythical stadium hosts all kinds of shows, but for visitors, the most typical thing to do is attend an NBA game. Tickets are expensive, around $ 100 the cheapest for a regular season game, but even those who do not enjoy basketball will enjoy the experience, the razzle-dazzle is better than the game itself.
