The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a piece of rainforest in the middle of Ubud, where more than 600 monkeys live and three temples are placed. Just 500 meters long, these three jungle-monkeys-temples combined create one of the most interesting spots in Bali and definitely worth a visit.

Monkeys lurk everywhere, are not shy at all and approach tourists for food. You should keep an eye on your belongings as they grab whatever they can, and should neither look at them straight in the eye nor show them your teeth, not even when you smile, because it can be interpreted as a challenge, and here they consider themselves the alpha dogs, so they can be aggressive. In case of being bitten, there is a small first aid post; No rabies has ever been detected in any monkey on the island.
